It has to start somewhere, and “Oz & Ella” began with this simple piece named after my son Oscar, who came along in 2016.
I wanted a necklace to wear that Oz could hang on to and chew, as babies do. But when I looked at my choices for existing teething necklaces, I didn’t like anything I came across.
So I did some research on materials and safety. That’s how I discovered the versatility of silicone, and I ended up making myself a necklace.
With that, one Oscar begat another.
It’s a simple piece, but I think that the mix of materials and the variety of colors makes this something more.
I have so much to say about this piece, including the story behind the haiku descriptions on the site. If you have questions, drop me a line, or let’s meet up at the upcoming INLAND Hamilton on November 11th, 2018.
